World Environment Day was celebrated through online mode on 5th June, 2021 in the Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar jointly organized by Department of Agriculture and Department of Botany with the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and under the able guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar. The function started on 2:00 pm with the welcome ceremony. Dr. Vikrant Jaryan, Associate Professor, welcome the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Dy. Dean UISH, Dr Vikas Sharma, Key note speaker Dr. Vivek Sharma, Associate Professor, Eternal University, Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh, CoD Agriculture, Dr Shalu Rani, other faculty member and students.
Vice Chancellor, Dr Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmargave important message to love the nature and remind us that it is a soul duty of everyone to save nature and plant more trees. In his address, he expressed concern about increasing pollution level, deforestation and global warming. A webinar based on theme “Ecosystem Restoration” was delivered by eminent speaker, Dr Vivek Sharma. He also remind us about the dangerous trends of climate change which impacted the mankind and the only way out is ecosystem restoration. He also highlighted the importance of commonly found medicinal plant “Punarva”. More than 90 students and faculty members have participated in the webinar. The students have participated by sending the photographs and video of various activities like poster making, best out of waste and tree plantation through online mode.
Meanwhile on 4th June, 2021, a plantation activity was conducted in Botanical Garden inside the campus of University where the members of Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Charitable Society, Vice Chancellor,Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmarand Registrar, Dr. Dhiraj Sharma have participated.
The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dy. Dean UISH, Dr Vikas Sharma. He also thanks all the staff members to make the ceremony successful and fruitful for everyone. He also highlighted the importance World Environment Day.
