Celebration of National Girl Child Day

With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji, under the able guidance of respected Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar , and under the aegis of IQAC, Gender Champion Scheme Implementation Committee has celebrated National Girl Child Day on 25th January, 2023 by organizing an Expert Lecture on “Importance of Girl’s Education” by eminent speaker and University Counsellor, Dr Shaveta Sharma.
National Girl Child Day is celebrated with a view to promote awareness about the rights of the girl child to bridge the gender divide and to lay emphasis on the importance of girl’s education, health and nutrition. The objective behind celebrating National Girl Child Day is to provide support and opportunities to the girls of India. As we know in India, gender inequality is one of the major issues that is needed to be focused on and it exists in several areas including legal rights, education, medical care, marriage, etc. Female feticide is another major issue that further affects the demographic problems in India.

  • Students from various departments have participated enthusiastically in the event. The count of gathering was more than 50.
  • Event begun with welcome speech of Ms. Surinder Kaur Grewal, Department of English. She shared the views on Importance of Girls’ Education.
  • Dr. Shaveta Sharma highlighted the inequalities faced by girls and also emphasized to promote awareness including the rights of a girl child, and the importance of education, health, and nutrition.
  • Students from various departments shared their experiences and problems faced by them.
  • The function ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Ramandeep Kaur Chahal. All the members Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, Ms. Kuljeet Kaur, Dr. Vivek were present in the hall. This was a successful event with the cooperation of all the members of Gender Champion Committee.
