Awareness Camp on “Health effects of Electronic Gadgets among children”

Department of Physical Sciences, University Institute of Sciences, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar have organized an awareness camp on “Health effects of Electronic Gadgets among children” in Government Primary School, Ghurial, Cluster Massanian , Block Adampur, Jalandhar on 9 October 2023 (Monday).
Dr. Nisha Sharma (Coordinator, Physical Sciences, Dr Honey Sharma (Coordinator, Physical Sciences), Ms. Arwinder Kaur (Activity Incharge, Physical Sciences) have conducted this drive.
During this awareness drive, Department of Physical Sciences have provided awareness regarding: Uses, Effects on physical/mental health and handling precautions of electronic gadgets. It’s a fact that kids are more vulnerable to spending time on electronic gadgets than adults. Digital screens have a much greater impact on the overall development of your child than what meets the eye.
Students of SBBSU have guided the school students to minimizing the use of electronic equipment like mobile phones, electronic toys. Students have been made aware that regular exposure of such devices in lower age group affect eye sight, reading disabilities and memory retardation, Restrained Social Relationships.
Giving your kid a toy at first is a good way to calm him down, but it can quickly become an addiction for him. If parents take away these gadgets or refuse to give them to their children, this addiction may also result in increasing irritation and tantrums.
Possible remedial measures to minimize radiation exposure from electronic devices have also been discussed. Faculty and students of SBBSU have also guided the school students regarding management of time, less use of electronic gadgets and health tracking to overcome various health related diseases and problems through displaying charts and posters.
Harpreet Kaur student of B.Sc Non Med 3rd semester has recited a poem about environment and health. Department of Physical Sciences, SBBSU have distributed stationary to intelligent students and candies are distributed among all the students of the school. Question /answer session have also been carried out.
This awareness campaign is very fruitful for all and is highly appreciated by the audience and school authorities. The event was concluded with vote of thanks to all for sparing their valuable time and participated enthusiastically. School authorities have highly appreciated the efforts of SBBSU for conducting such type of awareness programmes. Principal, Government Primary School, Ghurial has give letter of appreciation for organizing this extension activity.
