Expert talk on ‘Provision regarding Sexual harassment of Women at Workplace’

With the heavenly blessings of Reverend Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and Reverend Baba Dlawar Singh Ji ‘Brahm Ji’ and with the benign endorsement of Baba Janak Singh Ji and Honorable Chancellor Sant Manmohan Singh Ji and under the valuable guidance of Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, an expert talk on ‘Provision regarding Sexual harassment of Women at Workplace’ was conducted on 20/3/2024 at 11:30 am in Seminar Hall (Block 5) by joint efforts of Grievance Committee and Internal Complaint Committee, SBBSU, Khiala, Jalandhar. The speaker of the event was Prof. (Dr.) Rupam Jagota, Professor, Department of Laws (Associate Dean, GNDU (Regional Campus), Jalandhar. The expert talk initiated with the welcome speech of Mrs. Manjot Kaur (Member, Grievance Committee) SBBSU i.e.. She introduced the value of awareness of women rights at the work place. Then the chairperson of ICC, Dr. Sarla Nirankariwas invited to introduce the speaker of the day. The magnanimous achievements of the speaker Prof. (Dr.) Rupam Jagota are well known in the area of expertise. She imparted basic knowledge about the article 14, 15, 16 and also illuminated the audience with history on Vishakha Judgement by the Supreme Court vs State of Rajasthan guidelines. She discussed various sections of the act with major focus on the types of sexual harassment women and the preventive measures to be taken at various places like home, schools, colleges, offices and public areas. She discussed latest amendments in the Awareness program against Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Additionally, the prohibition and redressal mechanism were discussed among the audience for empowering women at workplace. Later on, an interaction session was conducted and queries were addressed satisfactorily.
The speaker was cordially thanked by the chairperson for her valuable lecture. The vote of thanks was extended by the Secretary of ICC and she hope that such talks would be conducted in future for encouraging women at work.
